Mini-post: Slowly and consciously

I live with an anxious mind and I can be easily distracted. I am always thinking about something and a lot of times my headspace strays from staying in the moment. Focusing can zap my energy, but I am managing my life better with an amazing daily planner, lists, reminders and mindfulness meditation. I've found a way to check in on how I feel and what I need, more than what I want.

At the end of the day around 8 or 9 o'clock, I make a conscious effort to slow down, turn off and tune in. My phone sits on silent in another room and the tv is off (unless there is a college basketball game to be watched; I'm a hoot to be around when it's March Madness). Most of the time, I brew some peppermint tea, bring out some aromatherapy, take a quick hot shower, fire up a few candles and journal until I get sleepy. Sometimes, I listen to spa radio on Pandora and sit in mindfulness for 10 minutes.

Anyone ever tried to take a mindfulness break at work? It's soooo hard for me! What do you do to turn off and tune in? Tell me in the comments below.
